Good to know
Is this tool private?
Yes. Your images are processed on your device and never sent to our servers. For AI tools, your browser downloads model files from imgpico when needed.
Will compressing reduce the quality of my image?
Lossless PNG optimization preserves the image pixels. PNG color reduction can change colors, transparency and gradients. JPG, WebP and AVIF use lossy compression with adjustable quality; 75% is a starting point for photos. Compare the result with the original before choosing your settings.
Why is my PNG not getting smaller?
imgpico optimizes PNG directly in your browser. An already optimized PNG may have no further lossless savings. Try Reduce colors for stronger compression with possible color changes, or choose WebP or AVIF. When compression in the same format would make a file larger, imgpico keeps the original.
Which image formats can I compress?
JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF can keep their format. GIF, BMP and SVG are converted to WebP in Automatic mode, or PNG if your browser cannot save WebP. You can also choose JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF explicitly. SVG becomes a raster image. Animated images become a still image, except PNG optimized in lossless mode, which preserves PNG animation.
